At Sharp Mary Birch, you're in the best possible hands. But we know there's no substitute for the support of a loved one. That's why we allow one support person of your choosing to sleep comfortably in your room overnight. Overnight guests must be age 18 or over and should not require supervision or physical assistance. Your guest will:

• Be empowered to learn and participate in your recovery

• Have use of either a recliner or sleeper sofa, depending upon availability

• Receive sheets, a blanket, a pillow and a pillowcase

• Have access to vending machines, a gift shop, a cafeteria, an ATM and coffee cart

• Have a free wireless connection for personal electronic devices

Sharp Mary Birch Support Group
Join our support group every Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm for parents and guardians whose baby is in the NICU. We meet in the NICU, and walk-ins are welcome. Prior to your arrival, please refer to our current visitation guidelines. If you have any questions, please call the Sharp Mary Birch Social Work Department at 858-939-4133.

Sharp Mary Birch NICU Parent Facebook Group
We created a safe place exclusively for current and past NICU parents to support one another. Go to Facebook and search “Sharp Mary Birch NICU Parent Support Group.” Click the “Join Group” button for one of our staff members to confirm your information and grant you access.

NICU to Now
Our support of each NICU family continues far beyond the day they graduate. Please share your NICU to NOW story, including your NICU graduate's growth, milestones and accomplishments with the Sharp Mary Birch NICU community.

You can view or download our specialized guides and class materials from our expectant parent classes to help you navigate your pregnancy and early days of parenthood.

Read our hospital visitor policy, which includes NICU visitation. To reach a patient's room, call 858-939-3400 and ask for the patient by name or room number.

Vending machines are located in the family lounge on the third floor of Sharp Mary Birch.

The Sweet Labors Coffee Cart is located in front of Sharp Mary Birch and is open Monday through Friday, from 6:30 am to 4 pm.

Guest meals for a patient's support person are available for purchase from the hospital's Mindful Café through the Grubhub Campus Dining app from 7 am to 7 pm, and are delivered directly to the patient's room. If you are new to Grubhub's Campus Dining, a delivery guide is available in the patient room with step-by-step instructions on how to download the app and place your meal order. Please allow 30 minutes for delivery to the room after the order is placed.

A full-service cafeteria is located within walking distance of Sharp Mary Birch at Sharp Memorial Hospital.

If your loved one is staying with us, send a free personalized e-card to brighten their day. Your printed message will be hand-delivered within two business days.

Our New Beginnings Boutique provides specialty gifts that can be purchased in-store or by phone.
